OUR STORY

CREATING YOUR SCENE
WAS ESTABLISHED BY
SUSAN POTTER DAVIS,
WHOSE UNCONVENTIONAL JOURNEY
HAS HONED A UNIQUE VISION
AND A WIDE RANGE OF WORK.

Susan's journey began with a degree in studio art, followed by an apprenticeship in a summer long symposium in concrete sculptures with 10 international sculptors.

She taught pottery/ceramics at a local craft studio, then earned another degree in architecture and building design technology.

Through this she obtained a work-study job teaching welding at the local high school career center.

She participated in field work with the USDA Soil Conservation Service involving surveying, inspection, and installation of drainage and storage systems.

In addition, she worked full time with a Consulting Engineering Company doing drafting of plans, along with field work, oversight, installation, and inspection of roads, water and sewer systems.

Over the course of 6 summers, she built a home-made 17 foot ferro-cement boat, which launched in 1978 and still floats today.

She had her own business doing drafting, scale models for proposed new projects, and topographic surveys, and became certified with the State of VT to do on-site sewer designs for single family dwellings.

She was employed for 10 years with a Landscaping Company doing designs, working with plants, water, stone, and running equipment.

In March 2001 Susan launched Creating Your Scene, offering full service consultations, design, install, and maintenance. Starting in 2018, Creating Your Scene LLC has narrowed the focus to Site Specific Landscape Consultations...

Which includes helping homeowners navigate the Vermont State mandates regarding Shoreland development and management to promote both erosion control as well as improve water quality.
